| LET'S GO "DUCKING"! In search of Long Island birds with Jody In this section, Long Island Ducks... in particular, North Fork Ducks! LAKE MARATOOKA A wonderful view of many species (scope helpful). Easy access (although parking on street is limited) makes for good viewing spots with a good variety of waterfowl. Directions (click here for Google Map) From the west on Route 25 (Main Road) east, past Walbaums Shopping Plaza on north side (left) continue past Bay Avenue and Hess Station on the south (right). There is another small shopping plaza on right with a Handy Pantry convenience store. Make a right turn after plaza onto New Suffolk Avenue. Continue on New Suffolk Avenue. The lake is on the north side (right). There is only on the street parking, so use care crossing the road. From the east on Route 25 west from Cutchogue, Peconic, Southold. Travel west on Route 25 (Main Road) past the Mattituck School on the north side of the road (right). The Lake will be visable to the south (left). Make the next left turn onto Reeve Avenue. A large church is on the corner. At the end of Reeve Avenue make a left onto New Suffolk Avenue. Park on street and use care crossing |
